My summer semestr begins in UTB on the faculty of Multimedia communications!
The main direction of my study is «Digital design». Here we go through Visual communication and Packaging design, and I also choose some courses from other departments, such as «Advertising photography» and «Contemporary visual culture». Also I attend Czech language course and constantly practice my English through communicating with students and during lectures. Some subjects from my home University (ITMO University) I’m studying distantly and some of the subjects that I study here, in the Czech Republic, will go to the credit transfer after returning home.
One of my unjustified fears was the fear that it would be difficult for me to learn, understand and speak English, because I hadn’t had a speaking practice with foreigners before. But in fact it was much easier: the language barrier seemed not to exist. For all students who study with me, English is also not a native language, so mistakes and lack of knowledge of some terms and words is not a trouble: everyone will help you if it necessary.
In UTB for foreign students implemented the program Buddy System, where each student is assigned a personal Buddy who helps with all emerging issues. On arrival for us, the new students, organized a Welcome week, during this week we walked around the city (Orientation Walk), visited a bar and tried the national cuisine (Welcome Night). One of the most interesting events – the presentation of the country (Country Presentation). This is a kind of friendly battle between the countries in which it is necessary to present your country: to reflect traditions, to convey culture, to bring interesting facts and much more. The presentation of Russia has already taken place and was extremely successful, ending with a victory!
Also from the cultural program we had a tour of the local bars (Tour de Pub), bowling night (Bowling Night), walk with dogs (Walking Dogs) in the shelter, as well as a trip to another city – Olomouc (Trip to Olomouc).
