Cologne is situated on the river Rhine, it’s the largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia and the fourth largest city in Germany. Construction of the Cathedral was begun in 1248 and was the most ambitious building project of the Middle Ages.
Construction lasted 632 years and was completed only in 1880. After completion 157-meter-high Cologne Cathedral became the highest building in the world for 4 years.
